Adding frog clasps to a vintage vest

It’s a 1958 grey quilted light vest - thinking of adding these clasps to make it a bit easier to wear but would hate to muck it up.
Love any thoughts or opinions! Won’t cry if it goes wrong, but seeing whether anybody has some gut check “no” thoughts before I go for it.
