Render distance cap?

MC 1.20.xPretty new to DH, loaded up a world using lithosphere and still life. Aside from those I have vanilla plus mods (random little items and trinkets) and some dinosaur mods. My previous strategy in older versions was to use chunky and then horizons just kinda popped up visible chunks farther and farther away till there was a massive map infront of me, but heard that in 1.20.1 it’s different? I used chunky my first time and no chunks outside of my render distance was showing so I removed it and used DH built in generator and started it at 256.
The strange part is I let the generation complete and my render distance was still only 12 chunks around me, so I yoloed it and set it to 2000, let like 60k chunks generate, and my render distance increase to like 16-18, and then I double yoloed it and went to 4096 and my total render distance shot up to 32 instantly but then it says I gotta generate like 42 million chunks over the course of like 3 weeks.
Dawg idk what the hells going on I just want a pretty landscape while I build a dinosaur park
