after bazzite install usb stick won't show on boot menu steamdeck

after installing bazzite the boot menu doesnt show any USB stick or micro SD card even though in desktop mode it shows up fine
i have tried many SD cards and usb sticks but none show I have USB boot enabled and I even reset BIOS settings to default
the only way I can get other things to show up is by using the official dock and none of the options it gives you lead to the USB stick
please help
