Hi everyone,
I’m stuck in a .co.uk registrar transfer and would really appreciate confirmation
from someone familiar with Cloudflare Registrar + UK domains.
Situation:
- Domain: .co.uk
- Current registrar (per WHOIS): Openprovider (TAG: REGISTRAR-EU)
- Domain was purchased via a marketplace (NameShift), not directly from Openprovider
- Target registrar: Cloudflare Registrar
What has been done:
- Cloudflare account set up
- Default contact details completed in Cloudflare
-Billing details added in Cloudflare
- Domain was initially added as a DNS-only site (now removed)
- Cloudflare Registrar chosen as the receiving registrar
- IPS TAG to use: CLOUDFLARE
Problem:
NameShift/Openprovider keeps saying the IPS TAG push will fail unless the
“registrar transfer is initiated” on Cloudflare’s side and I have no idea how to initiate it . I have done what the Cloudflare guide says, went to Transfer domains and added mine there untill I got to a page that is saying ‘pending ,update nameservers’
However:
- Cloudflare does not show the domain under “Transfer domains”
- Attempting to start a transfer says “domain already added” (when DNS site exists)
- After removing the DNS site, Cloudflare still shows only the generic
“pending / update nameservers” screen
- There is no visible pull-based transfer or intake confirmation for .co.uk
My understanding (please confirm or correct):
- For .co.uk domains, Cloudflare Registrar does NOT pull the domain
- The transfer completes ONLY when the current registrar (Openprovider)-Nameshift.com
changes the IPS TAG to CLOUDFLARE
- Cloudflare will only appear as registrar AFTER the TAG change is completed
- There is no mandatory “Transfer domains” entry for .co.uk before the tag push
Question:
Is there ANY additional action required inside Cloudflare Registrar
before Openprovider changes the IPS TAG, or is the TAG change itself
the only required step?
Thanks in advance ,
Cristian
