SSL Needed for our SubDomain?

Hi, we're currently having problem with our subdomain (GoDaddy) pointing to our primary domain (Cloudflare). I was told that we don't have a SSL for our subdomain so its getting a pointing issue. Is it also unsafe to switch our encryption to flexible? Thank you
