I'm not sure if this warrants a thread, so I'm just gonna describe what happened to me:
Been daily driving Steam OS on two steam decks - one docked as a hometheater setup with desktop mode and occasional gaming and the other handheld only. I'm a windows power user and try my best to give accurate error descriptions, steps to replicate and search for issues, sometimes on my own, sometimes assisted with an ai chatbot (which I use as a glorified google search at most)
I downloaded bazzite from the website using the short questionnaire - Nvidia gpu vendor (3090), kde and i opted out from game mode as i wanna run it on a desktop pc. The website scrolls down and gives me two download buttons, nvidia open and nvidia open legacy.
rufus-ing the nvidia open iso on a usb stick works, but results in a black screen with a mouse visible, the refresh rate seems high. when inactive, a lockscreen with a clock appears. I tried doing the same using my ventoy drive, but i think i didnt use grub2 which resulted in errors.
I then flashed a new drive using the nvidia open legacy iso and can seemingly proceed, but I am a bit confused: aren't legacy drivers for nvidia cards GTX and lower? with my very limited understanding, the nvidia open iso should work with my hardware configuration.
I checked the documentation, tried researching the issue here and online but couldnt find a definitive answer - there are people with similar issues to what I am describing, but those are booting a finished install and might or might not be related to what I am experiencing. What could also be the cause (but im really not sure if that can cause the issue) is that i am using a wqhd ultrawide screen, though I haven't experienced an arch based distro that had issues with that on live usb (tried manjaro and endeavor before).
Am I missing something obvious or did I catch an exception somehow?
(discord search is ass so researching this issue here with more than two words is proving difficult)
