› what is the vulnerability?
• It’s an Angular XSS issue: “Angular has XSS Vulnerability via Unsanitized SVG Script Attributes”.
What that means in practice:
- If your app ends up rendering attacker-controlled SVG/HTML (directly or via innerHTML / sanitizer
bypass patterns), Angular versions in that flagged range can fail to properly sanitize certain SVG
script-related attributes, enabling arbitrary JavaScript execution in the browser (classic XSS).
Why it matters:
- Impact is client-side compromise (session/token theft, actions as the user, data exfil in-app).
- Risk depends on whether the app ever renders untrusted SVG/HTML content.
Fix:
- Upgrade the affected @angular/* packages to a patched version (the path npm audit fix suggests), and
avoid sanitizer-bypass APIs for untrusted content.
