People who own wool trousers: how often do you wash them?

I'm considering eventually pulling the trigger on some wool slacks. I love how they look, but I don't like that they're not machine washable. I know wool sweaters (e.g. merino) don't need to be washed as long as they don't stain, since wool is self-cleaning/odor-resistant or something like that, and sport coats can be taken to a dry cleaner after several wears.
But for wool trousers (e.g. 1, 2) how often would I have to take them to the dry cleaner? Is it more like sweaters and it's enough to leave them out to air? Is it more like dry clean every 10 wears? 5? Or just a little bit of soaking in cold water or hand washing is enough? I'm new to this garment.
