Steam keyboard overlay not visible in GNOME applications menu on Steam Deck

I've been able to use the Steam virtual keyboard for just about everything, with the exception of the applications menu. For some reason, it's not visibly rendering. I can feel the haptics, I can see my cursor disappear, I can enter text, I just have no visual feedback on what I'm about to press. Any ideas?
