Upload folder contains > 700GB with Storage Template enabled

Hi!
I use storage template on my Immich instance and have run the migration job to move files from the upload folder to the library folder. As I understand from the docs, this means that my upload folder should be mostly empty, however this is not the case. Checking folder sizes gives the following numbers:
Why do I have 705GB in the upload folder? Is it safe for me to delete this?
