How to set up a Worker proxy for WebSocket

I'm encountering issues with the WSS handshake between the CF Worker and my WSS.
My worker's purpose is to verify jwt/jwks user auth and proxy the connection to a specific cloudflare tunneled host.
Should my tunnel config be
https://localhost:7777
or? http:// wss:// ws:/
Should I set it up with noTLSVerify? Or alternatively disable TLS on the local wss service for local connections?
Perhaps something particular with how to set up the Worker?
