- We pregen our world to a 10k radius. How much extra space would the LODs of such a world be expected to take up in the server files? - Can DH users opt-in to receiving the LODs? Do they run a command? Can I use permissions to override the
Distant Generation Enabled
Distant Generation Enabled
set to true, if this is the default setting for the client-side mod (which I believe it is)? - How often are updated LODs sent to users and how much strain can it be expected to put on a server?
Solution
1. Rough estimate is that the LOD database will be around 16% the size of your world. So if your world is 100 GBs, then the LOD database would be 16 GBs. At least with the FastOverworldBuilder. 2. Distant Generation is enabled by default both in DH and in the plugin. Players can disable it for themselves of course, or you can use permissions to force-disable it for them. 3. If you have login sync enabled (it is by default) then players will receive updates for their immediate area (128 chunk radius by default) when they log on to your server. If you have real-time updates enabled (also is by default) then players will receive updates whenever an LOD in their immediate area (this one is also 128 chunks by default) is updated. The interval for LOD updates is configurable, and is set to 15 seconds by default.
