Rocket League : Controller not Working

So I just downloaded Rocket League and the games launches but when it says click a button to start and I try clicked anything on my gamepad or keyboard or my xbox one controller that plugged in nothing works. I know the controller works because there is power to it and I can navigate the Heroic mainpage with it. Can someone please help me with this problem?
