Working at a menswear store?

This may be a bit silly of a question given my work background but whatever. I (21) live near New York City and I know a few people in this server and a lot of them work in menswear, but I don’t necessarily want to go into menswear as a full time job (I’m a history major in my 3rd year of college). Anyway I was thinking it might be interesting to work at a menswear store (like just at the front desk, stuff like that) either in the city (I live in New Jersey) or near me to get some more experience and just get more involved with menswear. So, I just wanted to ask if there’s anyone like me who works in menswear, but more as a side job, or advice for getting a job at a menswear store. Idk if I’ll actually do this but I have been considering it in terms of jobs given that I’m just starting to get even more into menswear
