I pulled my pc out of storage after a few months and tried using it. couldnt go to desktop, itd just be a black screen with my cursor. itll be like 1 frame per 10+ seconds, based off of how i move the cursor and nothing happens for a while. if i do ctrl alt f3, that ALSO takes a long time to show up, but when it does its not bound by the slow fps, until i do ctrl alt f1.
i eventually realized that i was on an nvidia branch for some reason even tho i know i switched to amd some time before putting it in storage, as i switched gpu. figured maybe that was the issue so after many hours of slow wifi, i rebased. then i updated. went to desktop and it worked so i thought it was fixed. this was last night. today, i try to go to desktop and it happens again. after some minutes i restart my pc and try nested desktop but that takes a good minute to launch, and while in it, pressing the windows key for the menu takes forever to open, if at all(it's not as im typing this).
I then remembered this has happened to me before with bad wifi, so i turned it off and it instantly loaded into desktop mode. How can i make it so it doesnt need internet to launch desktop mode? im definitely going to forget if i have to manually turn off wifi every time.
