Rocket League: "You Are Not Connected To Epic Online Services"

Used to play Rocket League on macOS via Heroic (epic games / legendary) often a few months ago. Today, the game launches fine, but I repeatedly get the error "You Are Not Connected To Epic Online Services. Would you like to reconnect?" and retry does not succeed.
1. I got the prompt / epic games store page open to accept the new EULA, and I did so.
2. Restarted heroic, my mac, cleared Heroic Cache, re-logged into epic games, and tried checking the epic games website manually.
3. Game works fine, just the internet / networking / epic games link (so I can't play with my friends!)
4. Updated heroic recently, and freshly installed rocket league today.
5. Never had this issue before, but was having other network connectivity issues before with other games (total war, aoe2, corekeeper), which I think all got resolved or had workarounds. Not sure if its related?

OK wait weirdly it fixed itself after an hour (?)
Things that may have worked:
- Settings > General > Date & Time > Automatic Date&Time toggled it off and back on again
- Went to friends / clan / settings and clicked around?
Weirdly, the prompt to retry / reconnect has appeared maybe 100x after so many restarts that did nothing. :] Maybe the issue was just temporal or transient.
Anyways, thanks all!
