Plasma won't start when gpu is connected

I've tried a couple times now to install deck-nvidia-stable-live-amd64 in a virtual machine, but if I have my gpu (rtx 3080) connected it posts into a black screen. I can CTRL+ALT+F2 into tty but i cant ever get to the desktop. If i remove my gpu and use a vnc virtual display it works. From terminal i can launch plasma with "dbus-run-session startplasma-wayland" but i have to do this every time i restart
