First time DH user, is this normal?

MC 1.21.xIn a single player world setting up mods for my wife and I. First time using this mod or "pre loading LODS" or doing anything with world gens. 1.2 million chunks seems like a lot to pre load and i have a couple questions
1. Will i have to do this everytime i play or is it a one time thing?
2. As im walking artound discovering new chunks, if i ever hit the border if this pre loading will i have to pre load more chuncks?
3. I have the Enable Distant Generation set as true so that the pre loading can happen, do i turn that off when this is done?
