voice-call plugin: Media Stream token validation fails (bidirectional calls broken)
What I'm trying to do:
Make bidirectional voice calls using the voice-call plugin with Twilio + ElevenLabs TTS.
What's happening instead:
One-way calls (notify mode) work fine, but bidirectional conversation mode fails. The Media Stream connection drops immediately after Twilio tries to connect.
The bug:
Token validation for WebSocket Media Streams fails. Twilio sends the token correctly, but the voice-call plugin rejects it. This happens with both:
- Tailscale Funnel (HTTPS)
- ngrok tunnels
Error pattern:
- Outbound call connects
- Twilio webhook fires
- TwiML response sent
- Media Stream WebSocket opens... then immediately closes
- No audio bidirectionality
Environment:
- macOS (Darwin 25.2.0, arm64)
- OpenClaw Gateway running locally
- Twilio: US number, EU region account
- ElevenLabs TTS configured
- Tunnel: Tailscale Funnel (also tested ngrok, same result)
Workaround (notify mode only):
Generate TTS audio file → host locally → Twilio <Play> instead of <Say>. Works for one-way notifications but not for conversations.
What I expected:
Media Stream should authenticate and stay connected for bidirectional audio.

Could someone look at the token validation logic in the voice-call plugin's WebSocket handler? The token appears correct but gets rejected.
