Securely Running OpenClaw in WSL with Sensitive .env Files
I am running OpenClaw locally inside WSL2 (Ubuntu) on my main Windows machine.
Setup:
- Windows 11
- WSL2 Ubuntu
- Codex API (OAuth) for high-quality responses
- Ollama (Qwen2.5-coder) for local coding tasks
- OpenClaw used mainly for coding automation
- Local only (not exposed publicly)
Security concern:

I want to reduce financial + privacy risk in case:
- A malicious or buggy skill is installed
- Prompt injection causes it to read
- It tries to exfiltrate secrets
I do not want extreme friction, but I want reasonable containment.

- Is WSL isolation sufficient for this?
- What is the minimal but effective setup so OpenClaw cannot read my
- Should I run it as a separate Linux user?
