Discord bot receives zero guild messages (DMs/outbound work fine)
Version: 2026.2.14 (also reproduced on 2026.2.13)
OS: Ubuntu 24.04, Node 22.22.0
Discord library: @buape/carbon 0.14.0
Symptoms:
- Bot logs in successfully (logged in to discord as <id>)
- Outbound messages via REST API work fine (bot posts to channels)
- Cron jobs deliver to Discord channels
- Guild MESSAGE_CREATE events never appear in logs β zero discord-preflight entries, zero routing decisions
- WebSocket periodically disconnects with code 1005, resume attempts fail immediately
- DMs to the bot also appear to not trigger (though webchat works)
What I've verified:
- Message Content Intent: ON
- Server Members Intent: ON
- Bot permissions: View Channels, Send Messages, Read Message History β all confirmed
- groupPolicy: "open" (also tried "allowlist" with guild allowlisted)
- requireMention: false
- openclaw doctor / openclaw status --deep both say Discord: OK
- No competing processes using the bot token
- Fresh gateway restart, fresh token β same result
- Sessions are not bloated (0% after compaction)
Relevant log (journalctl):
Then silence. No MESSAGE_CREATE, no preflight, nothing.
WebSocket disconnects seen periodically:
