Can't the minimax model use sub-agents?
Issue: Subagent with agentId fails with "API rate limit reached"
Environment:
OpenClaw 2026.2.17
Using sessions_spawn tool with agentId parameter to spawn subagents under different agent identities
Reproduction:
Spawn subagent WITHOUT agentId:
Works (uses main's model: claude-sonnet-4-6)
Spawn subagent WITH agentId: "code-agent":
Fails immediately with "API rate limit reached" (tokens: 0)
Spawn subagent WITH agentId: "test-agent": Fails with same error
Findings:
When NOT specifying agentId, subagent uses main's model (claude-sonnet-4-6) → Success
When specifying agentId: "code-agent", subagent should use code-agent's model (minimax-portal/MiniMax-M2.5) → Fails
The error occurs BEFORE any API call (tokens: 0), suggesting the model resolution/validation phase is failing
Configuration:
main agent has subagents.allowAgents: ["*"] (to allow spawning as other agents)
code-agent has model: minimax-portal/MiniMax-M2.5 with fallback google-antigravity/gemini-3-pro-high
Question:
Is this a known limitation? Is there a workaround, or should the agent models be changed to avoid using minimax-portal for subagents?
