Steam Big Picture displays wrong resolution after boot

I'm using bazzite-deck image on a desktop PC with an ultrawide monitor. After system reboot it logs in directly to steam big picture as expected. However, there are black bars on the right and left side of the screen.
It looks like it assumes it's running on steam deck, because the menu option says "return to desktop" instead of "exit big picture". If I exit to desktop and reopen big picture, the text and resolution are correct. Is there some environment variable that can be set so that steam launches in correct resolution on system startup?

Solution
Turns out you can go to Settings -> Display and uncheck "Automatically Set Resolution", this lets you set the correct resolution explicitly and the problem goes away
