ackReaction not firing automatically on Discord β v2026.2.21
My OpenClaw and myself have been trying to figure out an issue with Reactions, any help is greatly appreciated!
What I'm trying to do:
Get automatic emoji reactions on inbound Discord messages (the ack reaction feature). Want
to appear when a message is received, then optionally clear after reply.
What's happening instead:
No automatic reactions appear on any inbound messages. Bot CAN react manually (message tool react action works fine), so it's not a permissions issue. Zero reaction-related entries in gateway logs. "Lars is typing..." (stream preview) works, so the message pipeline is processing normally.

Also set at channel and account level:
Setup:
- v2026.2.21-2 via npm (upgraded today from 2026.2.15)
- macOS (Mac mini), local gateway, loopback bind
- Discord bot with single account ("lars")
- Guild config: groupPolicy "open", requireMention false
- streamMode "partial" is working
- Device scopes rotated per the known scope bug (operator.read + operator.write added)
- Provider: Anthropic (Claude)
What I've checked:
- Verified resolveAckReaction code path β emoji resolves correctly at all levels
- shouldAckReaction with scope "all" returns true unconditionally
- No errors in openclaw doctor
- Bot has Add Reactions permission (manual react works)
- Tried with removeAckAfterReply both true and false
Any ideas? Is there an additional setting I'm missing, or is this a known issue with this release?
