Pages Functions failing with Wrangler v3 but working with Wrangler v4 (Git vs CLI deploy)

Hi everyone

I’m using Cloudflare Pages (Git-connected) for an Astro site. I only have one server-side function — a simple contact form API — so I chose Pages + Functions for simplicity instead of creating a separate Worker.

In the build logs, I see that Pages is using:

[email protected]

[email protected]

When I deploy manually from my local machine using Wrangler v4, the contact form API works correctly.

However, when the same project is built automatically by Cloudflare Pages (using Wrangler v3), the function fails at runtime with this error:

TypeError: this._socket.on is not a function

TypeError: this._socket.on is not a function

Is there any way to make Cloudflare Pages use Wrangler v4 (or a newer runtime) for Git-connected builds?

Or is Pages currently locked to Wrangler v3 internally?
