Roles not syncing on xp gain

Here is a hypothetical to illustrate the issue.
Imagine you have a role reward when someone reaches level 10. They reach the level and Lurkr assigns them the role. Then, a moderator removes the role.
In theory, as soon as that users gains xp again, they should have that level 10 role reassigned by Lurkr. That is not happening. Users are able to chat and continue to gain xp but the roles they already qualify for are not re-synchronizing.
I believe it does work when they level up, but would have to test to be sure. It also does sync properly when using the slash command /syncrolerewards. My understanding is that it should indeed sync these roles automatically as soon as they chat and gain xp.
