Desktop install w/ SteamOS startup → black screen on reboot (NVIDIA)

Hey all — reporting an issue with Bazzite Desktop when enabling SteamOS / Game Mode startup.
What works:
Fresh Bazzite Desktop (NVIDIA) install
Booting into KDE desktop works normally
System is stable if SteamOS / Game Mode startup is not enabled
What doesn’t work:
If I install Desktop and attempt to enable SteamOS / Gamescope startup (console-style boot)
On reboot, system goes to a black screen
TTY sometimes briefly appears, then HDMI signal drops
Only recovery is disabling autologin / reinstalling Desktop without SteamOS startup
Hardware:
GPU: RTX 3060 Ti
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
RAM: 32GB DDR4
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550
Storage: NVMe SSD
Display: HDMI (projector / monitor)

Notes:
NVIDIA drivers appear installed correctly
Issue reproduces consistently when SteamOS startup is enabled
Desktop-only workflow is fine
Appears to be a Gamescope / NVIDIA startup issue rather than general GPU failure
