Hi, I need some help with my OpenClaw setup.
Problem: my agent cannot run shell commands.
Even simple commands like ls don’t work. The agent always says it has no shell access.
Setup:
• OpenClaw gateway running (dashboard shows Health OK)
• Running inside the OpenClaw VM sandbox
• New sessions created after config changes
• Agent config (~/.openclaw/agents/main/agent/config.json) contains:

}
However the agent still says it cannot execute shell commands.
In the terminal I also see this error:
Config invalid – JSON5 parse failed: ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json
So it looks like the global config might be broken and the gateway runs with a fallback config.
Questions:
1. Do I need to fix ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json instead of the agent config?
2. Is there another place where shell tools need to be enabled?
3. Could this be why the agent only has messaging/session tools?
Any help would be appreciated.
