I'm fairly new to linux, and Bazzite is my first distro. I would like to have MilkDrop 3 Music Visualizer running on my desktop, but I've had installation issues.
I've attempted to install MD3 (both the free release and special "Pro" version) via Bottles and WineZGUI. In both instances, MD3 couldn't recognize the DirectX 9 libraries (d3dx9) dependency that I installed in the Windows environment.
The author of MD3 provided installation instructions for linux (see below), but only for other distros. I haven't tried any of them yet since I'm not so sure they would work. I'm also not familiar enough with linux to avoid breaking things. I would like to avoid installing via a layer state, if possible.
As for my specific circumstance, I am only really interested in having a working music visualizer that plays MD3 preset files. I tried to load presets that I extracted from MD3 onto ProjectM (see below), which only resulted in a crash. ProjectM is a similar program which is available on Bazaar and Steam. If it were possible to simply extract the presets from MD3 and play them through ProjectM, then I personally wouldn't need a working installation of MD3 anymore. So if anyone has any advice on that front, I would be interested as well.
