Hi everyone, I’d appreciate some help with an audio issue I’m experiencing with VALORANT.
I’m using a Focusrite USB audio interface (XLR mic), and my microphone works perfectly across Windows and other applications (e.g., Discord, Voice Recorder). However, as soon as I launch VALORANT, my microphone stops working entirely system-wide, not just in-game.
Issue details:
• Mic works normally before opening VALORANT
• The moment VALORANT launches → mic input stops everywhere (Discord, Windows, etc.)
• In some cases, the interface still shows input (gain light active), but no signal is detected in software
Troubleshooting I’ve already tried:
• Manually selecting the correct input device in VALORANT (not using “Default”)
• Disabling exclusive mode in Windows sound settings
• Matching sample rate across system (48kHz)
• Reinstalling Focusrite drivers and Focusrite Control
• Testing different USB ports (directly on motherboard)
• Disabling other audio input devices
• Verifying mic works in other applications before launching VAL
Suspected cause:
It seems like VALORANT (or Riot Voice) is either:
• Forcing exclusive access to the device, or
• Causing the audio driver/interface to crash when initializing

Has anyone experienced something similar with audio interfaces (especially Focusrite), or knows if this is a known issue with Riot Voice or Vanguard?
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
