GUIs -can- be resource intensive they don't need to be. Most of the time they don't really consume much in the way of resources, if you're smart about how and when you update your ui components
Sometimes, if you grab the corner of mudlet and resize in big sweeping circles over and over and your UI is very full and doing a lot you will notice the slowdown
I have mooted the possibility of being able to close a single profile and returning to the state you would be in if you pressed on the inital Connection Profile dialogue. Ironically Vadim very recently zapped the unused slot/method in commit: https://github.com/Mudlet/Mudlet/commit/cd785abe6d6d249733225efaad6ce8a9e24db086 that would have been needed (to be wired up to a menu item or toolbar button - I even had an icon for this). However there was no guarentee that it was correct and up to date. AFAICR I had wired things up so that if there was no profile's active then one of either the main tool bar or the main menu bar would automatically reshow itself so that there would be access to the controls to enable to a new profile to be loaded...
