help me decide on a pair of boots

hey guys, im trying to decide on what boots to wear, i was thinking of the nike manoa or columbia newton ridge as theyre cheap but i also kinda wants timbs, i dont have a specific budget but i wouldnt like to spend more than i would on a pair of timbs, i also really like danner boots which are way too expensive. basically, what boot would u guys reccomend for something that is gonna be good for the wintertime (i live in nj) but is also good for streetstyle and wearing to school or in certain outfits? and i want something in brown too. no secondhand. thanks...

Examples of deconstructing clothes to repurpose the fabric?

Came across a pair of pants thrifting yesterday that were made of this gorgeous flecked tweed. The fit and cut were terrible, but I woke up this morning still thinking about how sick that fabric was. Now my head is full of ways you might cut the seams open and use the fabric for something else. Anyone here done this? Or have pics of other people doing it? Just feeding my curiosity here…...

Is there a limit to how much a tailor could shorten a pair of trousers for you?

Generally the length of trousers that fit me is a 28" length, but that length is harder to come by. So I've been thinking I may buy some longer trousers and then get a tailor to shorten them but I'm wondering if any length of trousers could be shortened to fit me or is there a certain point where it would get awkward and not make sense? I know something like shortening 30" length pants would be fine, but what about beyond that? 32", 34", 36" etc...

J press OCBD variations

A semi-follow up to my question about shrinkage, I got a new ocbd for a decent price on eBay to replace the one I had that shrank, and found it had a lot of variations compared to my first one. My original had a button on the back of the collar, is much lighter in color, has a more prominent collar roll, and an older looking care tag. The new one is much darker, has a less prominent collar roll, and no rear collar button. Are there any resources on variations of this shirt? I suspect that because J Press is a pretty trad shop, I happened to get a relatively older version from the pile the first time around....

Chinos?

Need to buy a few pairs of chinos. Previously had Target's Goodfellow chinos but the color looks worn rather quickly (~6 months). I've never had non-iron before but that might be worth it because I hate ironing. Generally looking sub $100, but flexible if needed. I would prefer not to buy second hand and generally like buying online. I'm in the US. I wear 32/32 generally.
