Dual PC set up for streaming

I have the elgato 4k mk2 capture card. I'm Currently using a Wave XLR to use wave link the transfer audio from my gaming computer to my streaming computer. However, I want to stop using the Wave XLR and use motu m2 audio interface for seperate reasons from streaming (audiophile related). How can I get audio from one point to another while also making it so stream can't listen to certain audio I want to listen to e.g Music....

whats the current meta for uploading 1080p60 gameplay ?

I was watching this video and he recommends that you should upload h.265 1440p instead of 1080p so that youtube transcode the video to VP9 instead of AVC. I'm currently editing CQP20 vods into h.264 1080p60 @ 50mbps . I got H.265 to work in premiere now. so I want to know what I can do to perserve as much quality as possible after youtube compress it to shit I can't find much info on this kind of stuff......

High GPU usuage OBS w/ 4090

Hey friends. I've been having this issue with my 4090 where OBS seems to want/reserve a TON of gpu usage. Basically with HAGS turn on OBS streams/records fine but I take a massive performance hit in games (about 20-30%). If i Turn HAGS off my performance in game is fine but OBS stutters like crazy with lots of rendering/encoding lag. I've tried a ton of shit to remedy this to no avail. I'm on a 5950x and Windows 11. My main monitor is 4K 240hz, I then have another 4k 120hz, and a 1440p 120hz....

New Monitor, but can I still stream with Elgato HD 60s+?

Guys, I am changing my setup from a living room big TV setup to a office, desk and monitor setup. I have been streaming and recording on XBOX Series X with Elgato HD 60 S+ and a Samsung 65" @ 3840/2160 60p HDMI UHD. Now of course I didn't think about any of this until right before my new monitor is going to be delivered. But I am wondering am I going to still be able to stream/record at least at 1080p 60 with my new ViewSonic VX2728J-2K? I realize that this is not a top of the line 2.1 HDMI monitor and I can not play at 1440p 120 but I think I can still play at 1080p 120. There in lies my problem, can I still stream/record with my HD 60 S+ by setting the resolution on the monitor at 1080p 60? I have seen conflicting information but some videos say a HD 60 S+ does pass through 120hz at 1080p but still captures at 1080p 60 unofficially, and others say not supported at all. Also those videos are all at least a couple years old. I mean I was excited to try 120 even at 1080p. But I am on 60 right now anyway so worst case scenario, HOPEFULLY I can still use 1080p 60 to stream until I can get a newer HD60 X or 4k X. ...

Elgato 4K Pro 4K120 HDR VRR Passthrough

Question Am I mistaken in believing that the 4K Pro is supposed to be capable of passing 4K120 HDR VRR to a TV/display? Problem Trying to configure a friends capture setup. When I send 4K120 HDR VRR to a 4K Pro / through to his TV, the card's internal HDR tone-mapping doesn't work (washed out), and the signal is washed out on the TV. ...

Inability to record in 8-bit (NV12) and be color accurate to the source

Yesterday I fiddled around with OBS for some time to dial in more refined settings to fit my needs However I quickly discovered that running either NVENC H264, HEVC or AV1 in NV12 Rec. 709 Limited ends up largely impacting the output's color accuracy as I view it in a fresh install of VLC after. From what I gathered thus far, seeking help from a few other people, is that 10-bit P010 Rec. 709 Limited with AV1 results in exactly the result I am looking for. The strange part here however is that both my displays are in 8-bit SDR mode, one of them being HDR capable but turned off. This makes me to believe there's something fishy going on behind the scenes that possibly tricks OBS into needing a 10-bit color format in spite of the source being in 8-bit for colors to match....

screen tearing with Avermedia GFC573 capture card and cloned display capture

So I tried to record some TF2 gameplay and I've been getting screen tearing on the capture card side (avermedia GC573) when I was cloning that with my main rig's monitor which is running in 144Hz + GSYNC on. Capture card is 60 Hz. So this is probably due to mismatching rates so would I change my main's monitor rate down to 60Hz, or should I just install OBS on the main computer too and add in a game capture and display capture source and call it a day? I'm not sure about the latter due to concerns of using up resources or losing performance....

Aitum Vertical Plugin not streaming when OBS main does stream with same exact settings

So I am using Vertical Plugin to attempt to stream to Tiktok, I have the stream key and everything all setup and hit live but nothing is being received on Tiktok's side. I swapped to use OBS main just to see if it's my setting and Main will send out the feed and be recieved on tiktok's end. I even tried to swap so main would stream to tiktok and Vertical would send to another channel in 16:9 but the feed ended up being in Vertical mode in Vertical plugin

Is raw, uncompressed capture possible on current macs?

Is it possible to capture raw content on an Apple M1 Max Macbook Pro. In terms of other hardware, I have a an Elgato HD60 X, as well as a RetroTink4K. My goal is to be able to capture uncompressed VHS and Hi8 content. I asked Bob at RetroRGB and he wasn't aware of a means of doing so on current M1 macs and he recommended I ask here. Thanks in advance for any help.

Windows sound playback device stops working

I am having a strange issue where the Windows sound playback device, whatever it is set to, stops producing sound. Whether set to the mobo soundcard, Focusrite interface, or Voicemeeter channel, it shall intermittently/randomly stop. The only way I have managed to get the audio back has been to reboot the pc, recycle power to focusrite, or restart Voicemeeter software engine. I’m confused what my next troubleshooting step should be....

DaVinci Resolve stacked timelines shenanigans

I have a 1080x1080 timeline with camera zoomed in and movement done so that speakers would be visible in tiny window next to slides in 1920x1080 timeline. 1st pic is what it is supposed to look like, 2nd what it currently looks like being nested on another timeline. 3rd is how it is supposed to be. Both times DR Studio 18.1.4 was used. Any recommendations? I don't know what else to do...

High OBS GPU Compositing Load

I've recently started trying to setup a 2PC stream using an elgato 4KX to let me move 2 camera and some ultrawide gameplay In the scene composting 2 cameras and the game into a single scene, OBS will draw close to 30% load on my 3090TI which results in a fairly negative impact on gameplay. Is this GPU loading normal for what I assumed would be relatively light loading?...

Making digital copies of physical photos.

I am looking to back up several physical photo albums for my family. I have over 100,000+ photos to back up and while I fully understand the task and data requirements, my homelab is fully capable of doing so. I have over enough space to hold over 720gbs of data Lol. My question is what is the best and most effect solution to scanning that data. Any services, specials scanners that make the task easy or is just placing on a standard printer/scanner my only solution to getting good high quality scans of my photos? Any help would be amazing and appreciate all the help...

Video Player w/ Hardware Accelerated AV1 Decoding on Linux (Nvidia GPU)

Question As the title suggests, I'm looking for a video player that can playback AV1 encoded video files with hardware acceleration via an Nvidia GPU on Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS). Personally I've used VLC Player on Windows for like 2 decades, and since v3.0.18 it's had Hardware Accelerated AV1 Decoding support on Windows. I install it with winget install VLC.VLC and it just works, no additional configuration needed. On Linux however... when selecting any of the "Hardware-accelerated decoding" options I get either poor performance or a black screen. - VA-API video decoder - Poor playback performance (anything over 1080p freezes)....
