[solved] Evil Dead The Game stuck on Please Wait
Evil Dead just went free and i have the urge to play it since its one of the greatest films of all time however after installing it, adding that EasyAntiCheat runtime, changing Wine and Proton versions, nothing seems to work, i just get stuck at the "Press Enter" screen where it tells me to "Please Wait" with nothing happening, is this a Linux thing and if so, does anyone know on how to fix it?
information that may be useful:
GTX 1050
8th Gen i5
Pop!_OS 22.04
16GB o' RAM
(probably below recommended system requirements but it should work lol)

if you want help , possibly start reading the post guidelines , on the book , next to NEW POST
like , log of the game and and such
if you didt see that , thats alright though

Seems like it has something to do with me using Proton or maybe something to do with Brave?
Going to give the Lutris GE versions of Wine real quick.

it might be a gStreamer problem
lemme see if i can find something about that

@jerry try to run with Wine-ge proton
just a test
i did not realize you were using an actual steam thing to run the game
wine ge proton you can install it via heroic btw
on wine manager

oh, didnt even know, was manually putting it in the runners folder w/lutris since i thought that worked fine (as it did with the over runners on different games) 😅

i mean never tried it so...cant say much xD , but yeah install with wine manager on heroic
theres a whole list you can choose
wine ge proton more perferably though to test it
most possibly you have to enable DXVK
so right click on thumbnail of the game and settings , then Wine extensions
Wine option is for you to change the wine version aswell

After you accept the licensing/privacy agreements, it'll open your browser for EGS authentication:

tried to use it however it only supports dx12 which im unable to use
this window never popped up for me, probably me messing something up, though
adverse-sapphire•3y ago
oh
okay if thats the case though...put everything how it was, cause it was because of that window
you must possibly gotta alt tab
tbh

you may need to enable "use dedicated graphics card" because I see that you have an integrated GPU with that intel CPU and it looks like a mobile chip
and the game only supports dx12. min specs say Nvidia 1060

also noted on PCGW:
All versions require Epic Games Launcher DRM and a constant internet connection for all game modes.[1]
While the game can be launched without either EAC or EGS running (from its' executable in <path-to-game>/EvilDead/Binaries/Win64), the game will not progress further than the start prompt menu.

nvm brave is just a small dick browser

lutris isnt reccomended, wine-ge(-proton) is best.
Sad.
Or would it work?
I dont think so right?

I too am having problems with getting this to run. Same issue, getting stuck on "Please wait..." I've spent about 8 hours trying to get this game to run in both Heroic and Lutris/EGS
My setup:
Linux Mint 21
Ryzen 5 3600XT
GTX 1070
32GB RAM

There's a user from Mexico that streamed it on YT yesterday so I know it works in Heroic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM3r6HiAD0M&t=2s

forgot to do this when it happened but after doing some reinstalls, registry edits and lots of patience, i was finally able to get it working, it wouldnt get me through the title screen all because it wanted me to connect my epic account w/ evil dead. god i love modern gaming.

Great it worked for you and maybe it will for someone else, but it's still stuck on "Please wait..." for me. Nothing opens to link my account to anything.
I did find a post from a Windows user from months ago about this linking accounts thing, where they had closed the screen without reading it and couldn't get past the "Please wait..." screen. After reopening the game a couple of time they were presented with the linking screen again. Since I had never seen that screen I figured they had done away with it or something.
