Guidance on SuperSlicer supports?
I know SS doesn't have tree supports, but trying out the Snug option, I'm still not happy with the shitty surfaces under my supports. I have it set at 0.2mm now (I think. At work, ATM) but are there any special settings or suggestions for best practices on supports that have minimal surface contact with the prints but still do their job?
(#slicers doesn't have the forum format yet. forgiveness, please)

There is an option about bridging that fixed my issue. Can’t remember right now but I will look into that
I also use snug supports
Yeah, supports are the only thing I miss from cura. I have increased the top distance which has helped but has also caused problems in some instances. Snug supports and paint on are the best way I have found to get them just in the area I need. Hopefully superslicer or prusa slicer will add tree supports one day

I'm using paint-on now and also using the seam painter thing as well which is cool. I'm still missing something with my setup though. Very rough surfaces when I remove the supports after printing.
Got any pictures?

Not at the moment. I'm trying to earn a dollar so I don't have access to my toys 🤣
Great. Now Prusa has "Organic supports" that are even better than tree supports? Dammit.
Happy day!!!!!!

@blacksmithforlife off on a tangent here, but ever see the tree style supports that can be generated using meshmixer and then imported in to SS? I stumbled across it yesterday and it looks pretty dang spiffy at first glance.
I tried it last night and it works as advertised except I can't figure out how to get the alignment correct when importing the two separate stls to SS. Takes some manual fidgeting.
I haven't no. I thought meshmixer saved the coordinates with the part, so it should import perfectly. Unless SS is overriding that and always dropping it in the center. Maybe there is a way to turn that off? Otherwise you should be able to grab the coordinates of the object in meshmixer by using the tangent tool (hotkey T if I remember correctly) and it should tell you where it is in X,Y,Z

You hit the nail on the head. It's dropping both in the center and losing the spatial relationship from MM. I'll look and see if there's something that defaults to the center of the bed.
you could also change the object in meshmixer to be at 0,0,0 and then generate the tree supports

Funny thing: the supports in MM look surprisingly like the organic supports from Prusa 🤨
probably all using the same general algorithm to make them. I would find it surprising if they looked radically different
Tree support and aOrganic will be availale in the next release of Prusa Slicer. Expect release in January.
Edit: Sorry I see someone above had already mentioned this....late to the party as always!
