Game not launching from Steam library (FF7R)

I have installed the Epic version of FF7R, and while it runs fine when I launch the game in Heroic Game Launcher, it goes into the 'Loading Game' loop if I try launching it in SteamOS after adding it to Steam library.

While it's not completely unplayable, when launching from HGL, frame rate doesn't lock to 40fps (as I set using the quick access panel) and instead goes up to 60fps. Not sure what's causing this.

what does Heroic display as your folder path to the game?

for the frame rate, you need to set the refresh rate to 40Hz then enable vsync in the game

Sorry I'm not exactly sure which folder path you are referring to but here's a few of them:

Install Path:
/run/media/mmcblk0p1/epic/FFVIIRemakeIntergrade

Wine prefix: /home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE

Does the game has an update?
I found a bug yesterday that If the game has an update it will stuck in the steam loading screen.
Already fixed it on my branch

I have actually the exact same behavior. I can easily run multiple games from the desktop ui on my steam deck with the newest version. But jumping into the Gaming Mode and trying to start it there will result in a loading loop (which I cannot even close, need to restart or go into desktop mode). as in, attempt a run from game mode, let it spin out for a bit, then get the log from Heroic

I also just found an issue were some games are failing to launch from steam when they support cloud saves but it is not enabled

I think you need to go to wine manager and install the wine version. Once you have that applied to a game rather than proton 7 it looks like there are options for it in game settings

It’s in wine extensions if you’re using Wine-GE. It’s not a general fix though. Proton already has it enabled by default.
