Issues with Saves on Epic (Tomb Raider) game doesn't see saves at all.
I beat Tomb Raider a few weeks ago. I wanted to go back today to backup my saves from steam deck via heroic using the .wine folder but when I launched it it was a brand new game (continue is grayed out and I cannot load my saved game. I was able to search and see save files from a few weeks ago however when I pasted that into the TR folder and launch the game it only shows new game and doesn't recognize my save. So in essence I lost my completed progress as cloud save isn't an open in heroic and launching the game doesn't let me click the continue option.

Heroic does not have permissions by default to access the
~/.wine

This wine prefix is the folder set by default

I am aware of that. It tends to not change it to a per-game setting if you hadn’t run anything from Steam first on the Deck
A shared prefix is bad form and runs the risk of messing up other games
/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/<Game>/

So should I change on a per game basis?

It should automatically do it, but someone a while back deduced it didn’t happen if one doesn’t actually run a Steam game first

Got it. Oddly enough when I try to change it for The Witcher it hangs and never updates.

Thank you, changing the wine prefix from the default to /Heroic/prefixes solved the problem of games not being able to save. I think I must have reset Heroic to defaults resulting in .wine location being used
