Guessing this is 4028 territory...?

Cranked out a quick print, basically a 50x50 c-shaped tube 95mm tall, printed in vase mode @ about 100mm/s (0.3mm layers). Looks like around 20-25mm up it started going ugly, and lasted all the way to the top. Seeing as I'm cooling with dual 5015's at 100%, I'm guessing I'm just pushing this PLA a little too hard without the needed cooling. Perhaps time to get that 4028 installed...?

Were you changing anything while printing? That lower part looks much better than the upper. But if it was all the same printing settings, logically it should all look bad if it wasn't enough cooling

I didn't touch a thing on the way up... wondering if maybe the filament was getting softer and compressing the stack more and more until it finally started making artifacts 😕

How do you have the two 5015 hooked up? Hard to tell in the pictures but looks like one side is better than the other so maybe one fan isn't blowing fully?

Hmmm, you are correct in that one side looks better than the other. It's all pretty parallel, though Funny thing is, my first thought was that the one side was being choked at the intake, but that is the better side of the print 🤣

I noticed at one point only one of my 5015 was turning on when commanded. Turned out to be a loose connection. I used multipin so each fan had it's own connection

Ahhh, mine are just hooked up in parallel... each with it's own plug to the jumper board, which has a single input. It could be a loose plug, I can take a look at that for sure.

It's pushing the flow on that outside edge, I still suspect it is a heat/cooling issue -- perhaps the shape holds the heat on the inside, making it even harder to cool down in general

Yeah not sure how to test they are both getting the same current and spinning the same amount. Also, your time is increasing as it goes up, so maybe it is because it is staying too long in a single spot?

The time showing there is a chronology, so a total time for that position in the print... the speed, layer time, and volumetric flow are all the exact same from layer 5 all the way up to the top Perhaps I'll try printing again with lower speeds to see if it does the same thing Wish I had a FLiR camera, that'd be pretty awesome in troubleshooting for something like this

Documenting the tests here... dropped the print speed and 5° of print temp Cooling seems pretty even from both sides, but seems to be MUCH heavier from my center-rear port... might have to change that duct to downsize that port...

Decided to stop trying to trick the system... the above parts were all printed with a 0.6mm nozzle and 1.2mm line width. Decided to redesign the part to use a 0.8mm line width through the same nozzle and this is what I got. Unfortunately not as strong-walled as I was hoping from a single pass, but certainly passable and much better looking in the end. Guess I'm going to have to get used to changing nozzles much more often for parts like this (ugh)
