Unable to log in to Epic Games
Just tonight I installed Heroic and am able to log in to GOG without any difficulty, but cannot log in to Epic at all, using either method. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Heroic and still no joy. I've made sure that I was logged out of Epic completely in both the Epic Launcher and Epic Games website. Not sure what to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you added your birth date on the account page? Epic made it mandatory in the last couple of weeks so you won't be able to login via HGL if you won't add it on the page first.
using either methodThe alternative login should've worked no matter what, since that just opens the prompt in your default browser This is incorrect. Logging in from Heroic will also prompt for your DoB

Are you sure this was always the case? I remember having problems with HGL until I've logged again in the browser. (I've been logged since before DoB was mandatory, though)
Heroic essentially is a browser
There's no difference between opening the page in it or in a Chromium-based browser

What I've meant is that HGL failed when I tried to launch a game without any visible reason. It worked again after I've logged via browser, but I expect relogin inside the HGL would have the same results. Anyway, after consideration this is irrelevant to the OP question.
I see. Just launching games was indeed borked (with no proper feedback from Heroic). Either logging out & back in again in Heroic or doing the same in the browser would fix this

There is nothing on the Account page about my birth date.
"should have" being the operative sentence, yet it doesn't. I've tried it many times, using the code that comes up and it merely sends me back to the log in page.

can you try logging in directly with legendary? you should have the path to legendary at the beginning of heroic's logs
then you can run
..../legendary auth and ..../legendary auth --code <thecodefromthebrowser>

I see no path to Legendary.

This is what pops up: "The program can't start because api-win-core-path-|1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I've reinstalled Heroic 3 times already.

Heroic does not support Windows versions that are not supported by Microsoft themselves. Currently, the only supported versions are 10 & 11
Windows 7 has not been getting security updates for 3 years now. You are actively putting yourself at risk by using it. Thus, we cannot support it
