BL Touch calibration, help.

Hey folks I need some help.. trying to calibrate my z axis on ratrig vcore 3.1.. using the paper method I get my nozzle down to provide appropriate friction to paper using the z offset section in rat os.. once I'm happy with the setting I hit save and this automatically updates my printer.cfg file.. It sets the following: ## [bltouch] ## z_offset = 5.240 The problem with this is that any value above 5 gives me the z movement error so I don't think the bltouch value needs to be this high especially when the nozzle, when near touching the bed, the bltouch sensor probe fully retracted is about 1mm away from the bed which is what I want ( I think).. so why does hitting 'save' when I find my optimum nozzle height, set the BL Touch value above 5? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tim

nope...too close. check the BLTouch paperwork (or site) tip retracted needs to be 2-3mm above nozzle to trip correctly when you get it 'just right' on the dashboard you will see the Z dims ...ther is a little number above it as well. One is where the system thinks Z0 is and the other what is being measured/set by the system. A 'perfect' setting both will read identical
