I could never get the Epic Cloud Save Games on Steamdeck to work.
Hi everyone! Is there any games that you guys play that have the cloud games sync work flawlessly? I have a 64GB Steamdeck using Heroic and all the games are installed on SD card.

are you doing that from game mode?
never ever do game maintenance from game mode

first things first. do not check the box for autosync until you have verified that everything is working
second. you need to edit that as the autofill clearly didn't work

{UserDir} is supposed to resolve to
<gamePrefix folder>/drive_c/users/<user>/Documents/ in this case
so for me because I am on a Deck using a version of Proton, my complete path is /home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/TwentyXX/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/20XXautomatic-azure•3y ago

under save game data location it says:
Windows %USERPROFILE%\Documents\20XX\

it does the autodetect and puts that..
different from yours

the backspace icon becomes a folder search icon
use that instead

ok logged off gaming mode. and back to desktop mode and it shows the full address

completed the tutorial on the deck
it looks like it is allowed me to play the game now. i guess it worked?

is that the same?
20xx seems it worked. Pikinuku didnt have windows location and Ghostrunner on GOG was not working and as bit complicated with the location.

not necessarily. that just means the save location wasn't recorded on the wiki. the saves are going somewhere, so you may need to dig manually into the folders (which can be time consuming)
but usually games are saved to a handful of areas
%appdata% or any of the 3 subfolders there, Documents or rarely the game data folder
this is one folder deeper
SaveGames/, so I cannot tell you which one has to be pointed to for GOG cloud saves to workunwilling-turquoiseOP•3y ago

ive tried both way. didnt sync.
i played this game on PC. wanted to see this on Steam deck, so I did a download and evem force download. at both locations Save Game and Saved. Neither worked

but when you start the game on the Steamdeck,, its a brand new game

looks like
Saved/ is the wrong folder if there is that big of a mismatch
that's when you'd need to force a download, but if you had autosave checked too early, you run the risk of wiping out your cloud save with a blank fileunwilling-turquoiseOP•3y ago
i still have the saved game on my PC, and havent autosaved it yet on the deck. i reinstalled the game
i think it finally worked....
savedgame is the folder. but im in desktop mode.
im going to see if this still is the case on gaming mode
nope i thought it worked.. both on desktop on gaming mode didnt work
i thought it did because it showed "continue" vs New game. but it was a new game

can you try starting a new game, saving it, and looking for the save to see what's the actual folder? then you can try to set that in the save sync field and do force download
just so you are 100% which one is the correct folder
