Final Fantasy VII Remake Long Startup Times

Has anyone else had the issue with this game taking over 5 minutes to start up on their Steam Deck?

Directly from Heroic or only does so when added to Steam?

have you tried with Wine-GE-Proton? I think there's a bug in that Heroic version that it re-initializes the prefix every time when using proton ge, maybe that's it

Hmm, does it change when you stop passing this ? -d3d11

It says DX12 isn't supported and I tried Wine-GE-Proton 34 without DXVK and VKD3D enabled which still took a long time to load

You either have to try with a Proton build or manually copy vkd3d 2.8 dlls into game directory if you are using a Wine build due to an Heroic issue Besides, your log shows you were using Proton but now you decided to use Wine?

Someone suggested I try it so I did. I've tried Wine, Proton, Proton GE.

Try with Proton GE latest with using DX12

Okay, so Proton GE with DX12 works, thank you! However, it still took three minutes to load the game.

Looking at google a bit people seemed to complain about it by saying a single save game file is about 300 mb. So that very well might be a game issue Is it installed on SD card?

Nope, it's on the internal SSD. I have a few saves, do you think that's the problem? I feel like this has been an issue the whole time I've used it on the Deck

Dunno, i saw posts complained about slow loading times and they were blaming save files being big. Some were from pc some were from consoles.
