Game Progress lost after update
hiii, i have been using heroic game launcher for a long time and this never happened me before but
I have been playing lately Death Stranding and i haven't seen but got an udate to it, idk when it happened, but today as i start death stranding all my game progress was lost, like if i never played with it before, i used a lot the option "run game offline" but i sometimes turned it on so it must saved my progress no?
OS: arch, before i started the game i got a lot of errors for the game not being able to run(solved with changing to proton-ge wine version), the drive where was the game installed was not modified/changed/chown-ed
doesn anyone have any advice how to get back my game progress? i was in the midddle of the game so i don't want to play it again, PLS help

Do you have switched to wine-ge?

i was on wine-ge
i think wine-ge-proton7-10 or 27

the thing is wine-ge/wine staging have a different wine prefix structure than proton-ge/proton
according to this https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Death_Stranding#Save_game_data_location your saves you should in
<your wine prefix for the game>/drive_c/users/user/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions
when you change to proton-ge, now it creates a pfx
folder inside your wine prefix folder, so you have to move the save from the previous location to <your wine prefix for the game>/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions
Before moving things around, look for your saves and back them up somewhere elseharsh-harlequinOP•3y ago
i don't have <my wine prefix for the game>/drive_c/users/user/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions folder, only at AppData/LocalLow/KojimaProductions
where is a random folder with a lot of strings, and inside there are 2 more folders with names profile and transfer

i haven't touched this directory(or i knowed where are my game saves) also the update(what the game had) had something to do with how they manage game saves
only at AppData/LocalLow/KojimaProductionsYup that's the one

but there's nothing in those folders
that's the weird part
There should be more folders in there

Are you sure you're looking in the right prefix?

yea. ig
.
Well, that's all I can tell you. Saves should be there; if they're not, you're either looking in the wrong place, or something deleted them
Looking at my files more closely: The game seems to create 22 folders for each save type (auto, manual, quick) when you first save the game
So maybe running a global file search for something like
manualsave22
finds something?harsh-harlequinOP•3y ago
not realy
i think this wasn't a heroic issue, probably the update for DS deleted the old saves
