Can't install GOG games or get sizes on Steam Deck

Brand new Steam Deck with fresh HGL 2.6.2 install. None of my GOG games return sizes or enable the Install button. I've tried reinstalling HGL. I've tried logging out of GOG and logging back in. I'm not sure what else to try. Current logs: http://paste.debian.net/1271151

do you have a github account? I can guide you to help us test a build of Heroic that might fix that

great, so - go here https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher/actions/runs/4113258092 and download the flatpak package at the bottom of the page - install it - go here https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/heroic-gogdl/actions/runs/4180446078 and download the gogdl-Linux file at the bottom of the page - unzip, right click the gogdl file, properties, allow the execution permissions - open Heroic (it should be that version you first downloaded) - go to settings > advanced - set that gogdl file that updated the permissions as the alternative gogdl binary then try to install a game that will probably fix it, we just need more testers to make sure and then we can include that in the next release probably

It worked to retrieve the sizes and enable the install button once, then it sat with a 0% download. I closed HGL and restarted it, and now it's back to now retrieving sizes. I reinstalled, reauthorized, etc. Nothing. New logs: http://paste.debian.net/1271154 I moved the gogdl file from Downloads (which was giving the strange pathname in the file selection dialog in HGL) to Documents, and now I'm getting to the Install stage again. Still stuck at 0%. Cancelled the download and tried to pick a different game. No sizes or install button on anything else. I assume the sizes on the first game are cached. Maybe the token expires after a couple of uses?

if you go to the folder where heroic stores the logs (click in the show log in folder button below the logs), there should be many gogdl-.....log files, can you check inside the one that matches the time of your try (or the latest one) and see if it shows any error message?

Nothing unusual that I could see. No instances of "error" in the file. Here are the last few lines: http://paste.debian.net/1271158

nothing else happens after that? not even 0% progress report?

I get the 0% progress report. If the deck falls asleep, the download fails and a bunch of exceptions get written to the log about timeouts. But other than that, it just sits there.

can you show that part of the logs too?

Hang on. It looks like it started downloading...after an 11 minute delay.

oh ok that's new, the issue we usually had was it either never started OR it started and froze after 15 minutes, but this is unexpected haha

Looks like it downloaded for about 30 seconds, then the deck went to sleep. It's stalled at 43% now, but I'll keep it awake to see if it resumes. There's a line before the download started that says "Preventing machine to sleep", but there's clearly a "Connectivity: offline" right when progress stalled.

what I do when I want to install games is I change the settings to not put the screen to sleep with plugged in and connect it, it is really annoying that it keeps breaking the downloads

Not a bad idea I let it try to resume for 20 minutes, then gave up and restarted the download from scratch. It sat at 0% for 10 minutes, then pulled data for about 9 seconds getting to 43%, stalled again for 10 minutes, then got the remaining data in another 5 seconds. And it didn't work, but I'm going to come back to that later. For now, I'm going to pick out a larger game and leave it downloading overnight to gather more data about these stalls, assuming I can get it to load the sizes and the install button for a different game. I was able to get Witcher 3 downloaded and working. Based on experimenting with other games, anything where HGL has to pull data from GOG takes about 11 minutes to start, but it does seem to finish. So I think the update you've got works.

thanks for testing, not the best but it works eventually so it's better than what it was before
