Cant add friends on snapchat

Hey guys i need help. I can't add anyone on Snapchat. When I press the search icon it turns into a black screen with a green ticking line. I try to put in names but I get no suggestions or recommendations. I clear the cache, cleared my data, unintalled snap, restarted my phone, reinstall snap in the order multiple times and it still doesn't work and takes me back to the black screen and my snap is updated. Can anyone help me solve this issue?
