Solved -Setup: OS2 wizard didn't pull w setup. Manual flashing worked to a point.

error: Include file '/home/pi/printer_data/config/RatOS/boards/btt-octopus-11/config.cfg' does not exist. Warning -> first build. Should I reformat my pi and try again with an ethernet cord versus wifi? I'm currently able to control my pi (turning off) with wifi network. Thank you.

I'm not sure to tell the latest version of RatOS2 I'm on. I've refreshed everything that I could.

Sorry, I am not understanding what you did. I would start https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation and follow the instructions to the letter if you hit any issues, stop and come back here and post what the issue is and what step you are on

OK, will try this again. The symptom was -> when remoting in using the 192.168.x.x/local is would not pull up. only the 192.168.x.x specifically to my machine. Mainsail did pull up properly. Thank you for the help, this is a very supportive community. sorry That was */configure

192.168.50.1/configure ?

yes, that pulls up fine
blacksmithforlife
right, so you need to setup your wifi then. you are on https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation#wifi-or-ethernet step

Tried to ethernet in after a restart. Tried http://RatOS.local/configure = it times out and doesn't connect this way. Connect via http://192.168.1.244/configure and I can use features in the Update Manager to get the latest updates. I can see mainsail, which is good. Now I go to update Klipper and pull up a configure error. -> see image attached. Next, I will re-format my PI sd card and disconnect all components again. See you on the other side. *

Yeah you are missing ratos. I would use the latest ratos 2.x version and re-install on your pi

should I unzip it on the SD card itself?
blacksmithforlife
follow the instructions in the documentation https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation#raspberry-pi-installation

Flashed at 4K on the SD card, removed jumper and got a yellow then red Klipper “button” on the wizard.

I know the board works, because I flashed manually with Mainsail. True, it’s an indicator. Any other suggestions?
blacksmithforlife
suggestions for what? What is the issue you are having?

The .bin file will not update to a .cur when flashing manually via OS2. Earlier last week I used mainsail and was able to flash manually. The OS2 directions were clear on the steps.

did you overwrite the bootloader?

I’m not 100% clear on what you mean. I did red lash and remove the PI communication jumper and restarted. *re- flash
blacksmithforlife
when you flashed it earlier - how did you ensure you didn't overwrite the bootloader?

Placed the jumper in place and followed directions on the OS2 web page. No extra steps Using a octopus v1.1 board - that could help what I’m using *an

This was from last week, so I know Klipper will connect to the PI.
blacksmithforlife
this sentence doesn't make sense. Klipper runs on your pi. You are talking about the firmware for the MCU. I don't know how you compiled that firmware and it is possible you didn't have the correct offset so you deleted the bootloader. the bootloader is needed so that it will flash new firmware

Ok, let me find the board instructions and load a boot loader. I think I read how to go back to a factory default somewhere. Let me try that. This could take a while. 😆 I’m thinking about how to start smoking . -> want to join? Seriously, be back in a few hours.

This is supposed to happen. The board needs to be flashed with RatOS compiled firmware for things to work correctly. This is usually easy. I assume you disconnected all the wires, etc from the board while attempting to flash it via sd card? What jumper?
sensitive-blue
sensitive-blue15mo ago
There is a jumper needed on the Octopus if using USB-C for power. Still working on a bootloader.

Ah so you don't have 24V connected i assume.

Correct. Disconnected everything. Bootloader was repaired on Octopus board. ‘Mcu is shut down for AC out of range’. So the pi and board are talking again. Thank you for your help @blacksmithforlife blacksmith. Going to connect wiring again and proceed with directions.
