new student starting CPP in may - need some help/share of experience

hey, so Im starting this may as completely no experience college student, and no programming experience at all. I am also on OSAP. my early enrolment is tomorrow - april 11 - so Im doing a little bit of research beforehand. apart from COM101 all classes are in-person, and I live 50min away from the newnham campus. I would prefer classes starting mid-day, but as im trying to create a schedule Im having a hard time making one that has a healthy start-to-end times that wouldnt have me come home at 7pm every other day with all 5 courses spread through the week. Ive mentioned Im on OSAP and my funding is calculated as a full-time student, which means 60%+ of course load and thats at minimum 3 courses. Point being - is it okay to take less courses for a complete newbie? how to tell which ones are okay to put off for later? how will I have to complete those courses later? looking at the schedule builder requirements it doesnt seem to specify which prereqs courses are needed for future semesters unless of course im missing something important. all these questions are probably accessible through google or seneca resources searching but if its not big trouble I would like help from people here. feel free to share any tips or advices apart from that, any recommendations for laptops? thank you

I would take all courses for the first semester at least. (CPR is kinda okay but the others you should definitely take) Also, for laptops; use windows for this program 🪟

We don't recommend taking 4 courses, we recommend 5 for the first semester for full speed. If you don't take some of the courses, 2nd semester you may be missing out a lot. You can always drop courses in the middle of the semester if you are feeling over loaded (you will get did not complete mark if you drop within 2 months of the semester I believe).
