Rocket League opens to tutorial every time in with Proton-GE runners.
This probably isn't a problem with heroic, and arguably not even a problem, but I wanted to share. I tried 3 or 4 Proton-GE runners and while they run and play fine, they open into that unskippable tutorial and two minute bot-round every time it runs. I'm still signed into epic no problem, and once I get through that tutorial it's perfect. I tried all of the solutions I could find online from deleting replays to reinstalling the game but I got the same results.
Interestingly though, I only tried one version of wine, but Wine-GE-Proton7-43 doesn't have this issue. So again, I'm not asking for support per-se, because I'm fine with using wine, I just want to share.

WINEPREFIX=/home/deck/.wine
There's your problem. Any files Heroic writes to your home directory will be discarded after restarting it.
You generally want to keep your prefix at the pre-selected spot (/home/deck/Games/Heroic/GameName
) unless you're really short on spacexenial-black•3y ago
Yeah
And the tutorial status is stored in wineprefix

Okay you were right, I changed the prefix and now Proton - Proton-GE-Proton7-55 is remembering that I already did the tutorial. How come wine didn't have this problem even though it's prefix is also stored at /home/deck/.wine?
Also, /home/deck/.wine was the pre-selected spot for me afaik.
When I first installed it, and later reinstalled it, I got a message asking me to download the recommended wine or something like that. Maybe that set the prefix folder idk

that's if you checked the box saying "Use default wine settings"
don't use Proton-GE, use Wine-GE as well
the Flatpak version of Heroic does not have permissions to access
/home/deck/.wine
, and it's better if it doesn't. change it to /home/deck/Games/Prefixes/Rocket League/
as suggestedvicious-goldOP•3y ago
Yup that was it
I am curious though, why not Proton-GE? After changing the prefix it's actually working perfectly for me
Proton is not designed to run outside of Steam. It might work, it might not
