Motor 8 Dead?
I have my stepup as per Ratrig connections, I haveb the three Z motors on M6, M7 and M8.
What ever I try to home gives me an "Unable to read tmc uart 'stepper_z2' register IFCN!" error.
I know its not hardware having tried different motors. I had read about others having the same problem with M8.
In the stepper config iy looks ok , so I 'm lost as to what check now.
I did a search but but still haven't found the answers.
Have others had this problem?

What control board do you have? Octopus?
MAnta M8P
1.1
Can you upload pictures of your wiring of the manta?
yes
.
The Top wire is the M8 that does not work.
Looks like you plugged your 4pib fan into the wrong port
This is a RatRig made from old parts and new.
Strpper buzz works on all motors except M8
Stepper_buzz
If you switch the connectors between motor 8 and 7, does 7 now not work?
second
Strange Swithed motors now 8 works but not 7 but if i put it back as it was 7 works but not 8
So that suggests that it is a wiring issue. Check the connection that isn't working. Check the crimps on both sides. Make sure it is fully seated, etc.
that was the first thing i did I used another new harness and it still does not work. Just tried it again to be sure
Are the steppers new?
no
but they all work
going to check the coils pairs but they move so they are not burnt
MEt another guy who have the same problem he moved the motors down 1 so he used 5 6 and 7.
By swapping the motor cables from 7 and 8 you already proved that stepper port is working. So either you have bad cabling or a bad stepper
I checked the coilsand they are the same
well that means ratrig just sent me 2 broken cabkles 🙂 I will swicth 7 and 8
ok just switced cable 7 and 8 , 7 stills works 8 no I will no put it back on 8 and test again
nope doesn't work. It must be a hardware problem of BTT at this point need to move the steppers by one.
this is what he used

Maybe i wasn't clear Motor on M8 does not work if I move the cable and motor to M7 it works. Motor and cable that where on Motor 7 on M8 do not work. The motors are all working with the varius cables.
Sorry but how can I move the m8 to m5 i'm lost
Very strange the boards says 8 ports but there are 9 connectors.
yep there is 3a and 3b
