What is this?! Wet filament? Clogged or fried nozzle? Prusa PC-CF which usually works awesome.

Filament was recently dried (but not quite to optimal temperature but several times as long). Bottom - New part had some infill/perimeter issues.... otherwise looks ok. Middle - ran an extrusion multiplier test... tweaked a small amount but was general okay and adjusted test looked improved. Top - Reprinted part - first few layers looked fair but then it started spewing crazy fuzz. One note is the first few layers are a chamfer and the ugly portion is straight wall.... also note infill looks ok.

Different view of same parts.... better lighting.

I just unloaded filament to run a test with a known working setup with a different filament and his popped up....

Infill overlap in mm instead of % due to a missed %sign?
metropolitan-bronze
metropolitan-bronze2y ago
nope Tried a few different % 18-50%

Printing too hot? Lower layers not affected because they take more time and cool passively What's your line width? Some of the lines look barely attached

0.6mm with a 0.6mm nozzle

I prefer a bit thicker, 0.7. but also check that you have your nozzle correct in slicer and klipper

yup re: klipper

Prusa PC-CF ....which has worked awesome in the past.

Just finished a print... of a known working setup - different material, same g-code file, etc. It's a part I've printed dozens of.

Right side is the one just now.... transparent isn't too visible but my fingernail says there is a similar infill/perimeter gap - left one is continuous/smooth.

Yeah right looks under extruded

Suspecting a clog or extruder issue.... sigh.

Yeah. I had something similar to your blobby pattern when I thought I had a 0.4 on the printer but it was actually a 0.5 or 0.6 What kind of nozzle is it?

Right side is the recent one..... beyond the first few layers, it is not looking bad.... a few zits but nothing major..... hmm.

MicroSwiss hardened steel Back in a bit. Update.... tried many things. a) Increased width in slicer b) Did hotend/nozzle unclog procedures.... ran a 1.75mm rod all the way through.... needle in nozzle tip, torch, etc. c) Ran pressure advance calibration thing - long shot and side benefit of ruling out slicer goof-up.... d) undid nozzle_diameter = 0.6 in klipper e) reran input_shaper I did my best to change only one item at a time.... no appreciable difference. In fact, I just reran the extrusion widget and the gaps are worse than before.

🤯 (same g-code file) Same spool of filament. Also tried drying the hell out of that spool. Opened up the extruder.... nothing noteworthy. I did not try swapping nozzle.... guess I'll try that now,. Extruder dying? @elcoj 👋 Swapped the 0.6mm nozzle to 0.4mm.... same thing, just skinnier lines. Not slicer related as I am using the pressure advance pattern thing to create the g-code. Running out of things to try.... think I am going to start a new thread in fix-my-printer as this is outside the scope of a single print.

is your temperature high enough? it is indeed very underextruded
metropolitan-bronze
metropolitan-bronze2y ago
Hmm, I had considered that and I did rerun the PID tune on the extruder. I'm running at 285 and have not varied.... it's worth a shot... only thing is that is already 5C over the max rated of my Rapido. I'll try futzing with the temperature of the PETG.
elco
elco2y ago
285 for PETG?
metropolitan-bronze
metropolitan-bronze2y ago
No, for the PC-CF What I meant is I'll try futzing with the PETG instead of the PC-CF as I can't go higher in temperature. Could anything cause temperature readings to wear & use?

Wish it was more broken..... would've been quicker to diagnose. 🤦‍♂️ @elcoj Thank you again for your attempts to troubleshoot.

A seam is normal, but you could also have a crack, I have had that. The top would get got, but the bottom would not So you wouldn't see it with the sensor A symptom can be that extruding a small bit works because it already melts in the top
metropolitan-bronze
metropolitan-bronze2y ago
Looking at a new-in-box unit.... indeed, it is a seam. 🤔 Another issue is the broken screw head just above that line.

You might have damages the throat too then
